FIRST SERGEANT RUSSELL A. POTTER was born on 7 July 1930. He served in the US Army from 1948 until 1952, stationed in Germany. He enlisted in the 115th Military Police Company, RI Army National Guard in 1955. He transferred to Company D/16th SF Gp, RIARNG in 1961. His last duty assignment was a First Sergeant, Headquarters Detachment, 56th Troop Command (Special Forces). He retired on 31 January 1988. He was awarded the SF Tab and the Master Parachutist Badge. Russ did the design work for the SF monument erected in the RI Veterans Cemetery by Chapter 48, SFA. He died of cancer on 15 May 2001.
He is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI
