SSG Robert E. Delomba


 

Staff Sergeant (Retired) Robert E. Delomba (A1055) was born on 6 October 1939. Bob started is military career in 1956 by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served in the USMC until his discharge in 1962. In 1963 he enlisted in Company D, 16th Special Forces Group (Airborne) RI Army National Guard. During his service in Special Forces he demonstrated dedication and loyalty. He retired from Company A, 2nd Bn, 19th SF Gp, RIARNG in 1991.

Bob brought the same high level of dedication and loyalty during his membership in Chapter XLVIII. He was our Sergeant-At-Arms, Guidon Bearer, and jack of all trades during our Leapfest activities and our grill-master during our annual Family Day.

Bob’s courage, endurance and positive attitude were constantly demonstrated during his long battle with cancer, which ended on 4 August 2012.

Members of Chapter XLVIII formed and honor guard at the funeral home and at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Bob was buried with full military honors rendered by both the Rhode Island Army National Guard and the United States Marine Corps.
