1SG Arthur G. Boucher (D3758) died of a heart attack at his home in Leesburg, FL on October 12, 2016. He was born on 10Feb32, the son of the late Henry and Blanche (St. Jacques) Boucher. He is survived by his son Paul, his brother Norman, nephews Norman Jr., Robert and his niece Denise DiFranco. He was predeceased by his son Mark and his brother Henry. Arthur started his military career in 1951 as a member of the US Navy Reserve. In 1952, he was discharged from the Navy in order to allow him to enlist in the US Army and serve from 1952 to 1954. He attained the rank of SSG and was a tank commander during the Korean War. He reenlisted in the US Army and served in Germany with B Battery, 2d Howitzer Bn, 34th Artillery from 1960 to 1964. He enlisted in Company D, 16th SF Gp (Abn), RIARNG in 1964. During his service in the RI National Guard SF, he was assigned to Co D, 19th SF, Co C, 5/20 SF and HHD, 6/20 SF. He was assigned as an Operations Sergeant and as a First Sergeant. He retired in 1989. Some of his awards included the Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Jungle Expert Badge and Special Forces Tab. Arthur’s cremains were interred next to his son Mark at the Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, FL.
